The recognition reflects the continued performance of one of Mirah’s signature resort developments, now featured among the world’s top-rated hotels for a second consecutive year.
Bali, Indonesia — 2026 Cocana Resort on Gili Trawangan, developed by Mirah Investment & Development and operated by The Guest Society, has been recognised in the 2026 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, placing it among the top 10% of hospitality destinations worldwide. The reviews-based award is drawn from millions of traveller submissions over the preceding twelve months.
A market response of this strength reflects the underlying strength of a development positioned early in an emerging luxury market.
Situated on the west coast of Gili Trawangan, fronted by turquoise water and open beachfront, Cocana Resort comprises 45 private-pool villas and 66 lagoon suites, designed as extensions of the island’s natural landscape. The resort’s facilities include a dedicated spa, a beachfront beach club, and a curated collection of dining venues, from the all-day Mediterranean offering at Pacifica to the beachfront setting of Cocana Sunset Club. A third restaurant, Sensei Ikan, together with additional adults-only deluxe lagoon suites, is scheduled to open later in 2026.

Mirah identified Gili Trawangan as a development opportunity at a stage when the island’s accommodation base was oriented largely towards the backpacker segment, leaving the upper tier structurally underserved. Demand fundamentals were strong and the location highly sought-after, yet quality supply had not been built to meet them.
Recognising that gap early, Mirah planned and developed Cocana ahead of the market, in anticipation of the improved connectivity and infrastructure then reaching the island through a new port and expanded ferry capacity. That foresight, from anticipating demand and market trends, to overcoming the construction and logistical challenges of delivering a high-end resort on a remote island, laid the foundations for Cocana’s success today.
“Cocana [Resort] was developed on a view of the Gili Trawangan market that differed from the prevailing one at the time,” said Scott Matson, COO, Mirah Investment & Development.
“We could see where the market was heading, and that nothing on the island was positioned to meet it, so we developed accordingly. The same discipline of moving ahead of demand, rather than following it, underpins every market we enter.”
The Cocana brand is now expanding across the region. Development of the next Cocana Resort commences soon in Bali, on Balangan, a front-line location widely regarded as one of the island’s finest stretches of coastline. A further Cocana Resort in Thailand, is in the pipeline, marking the brand’s entry into Southeast Asia.
Cocana Resort on Gili Trawangan operates through Mirah’s partnership with The Guest Society, an experience-led hospitality management company. That partnership, central to Cocana’s performance to date, extends across a pipeline of high-profile openings over the next 18 months, including Kiara Beachtown in Nusa Dua, and SOMOSHOTELS, a 250-key hotel, pool club and retail centre on Uluwatu’s main commercial strip.
